Veteran Alumni Mixer and Celebration of 1st USMC Commissioning

Columbia Veterans, the campus-wide alumni organization for US Military veterans, is proud to sponsor a reception following the commissioning ceremony of Staff Sergeant Patrick Poorbaugh, the first Marine commissioned through Columbia’s NROTC since its return to campus.

Assistant Secretary of the Navy Juan M. Garcia III was instrumental in returning NROTC to Columbia’s campus and is the keynote speaker for the commissioning ceremony.

  • 4:00 PM commissioning ceremony begins at Low Library

  • 5:00 PM reception begins following ceremony at Low Library

  • 7:30 PM reception ends

If unable to attend the commissioning ceremony at 4 PM,  veteran alumni are welcome to arrive anytime after the reception begins.

Military Uniform:
Summer White (Navy)
Blue Dress “D” (Marine Corps)
or service equivalent

Civilian Attire:
Business or Business Casual
